Water treatment and recycling at a car wash facility committed to the environment

Water is one of the basic elements of our work. Therefore, responsible water use on our machines and the development of water treatment and recycling systems are factors that are always present in our car wash and car care solutions.

Water types for car wash equipment

Three types of water can be used.
To make the most of water and ensure wash quality, ISTOBAL recommends using the three types in different phases of the washing process.

Recycled water

Used in the first phase, that is, in the pre-washes.

Mains or well water, treated

Used in the second phase, that is, during the wash.

Reverse osmosis water

Used in the third phase, that is, in the rinsing and waxing steps.

How is water recycled at the car wash?

Did you know that...

...Our recycling systems recover up to 85% of water to then reuse it in the first wash phase?

Did you know that...

...ISTOBAL’s separation and retention technology reduces hydrocarbons in water by 94%?

...Just one litre of hydrocarbons pollute 1,000 m3 of water, the equivalent of an Olympic-size swimming pool?

How is mains or well water treated?

Mains water

Supplied by the water authority, this water is usually stable.

Well water

Quality varies, it may require more intensive pretreatment.

Water softeners or scale preventer

Iron removers or organic matter filter

How is osmotized water obtained?

Did you know that...

... It is also important to disinfect water stored in tanks to prevent fungi and bacteria from growing. Disinfectant dispensers are used for that purpose.

...Besides, chlorine must be removed from the water to avoid damaging reverse osmosis units and water treatment equipment.

Less consumption = less cost

Water is our working tool, and as such it should be considered critical to the future of our sector. For that reason, our car wash equipment has been designed to reduce water consumption.
